EXCHANGE MEETING BETWEEN COUNTRIES ON THE IMPLEMENTATION OF THE PRE-EXPOSURE PROPHYLAXIS TO HIV IN LATIN AMERICA

On Tuesday (25/09), the “Exchange Meeting between countries on the implementation of Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis for HIV in the Latin American region” started in Mexico City, an activity of the ImPrEP project in partnership with the Pan -American Health Organization.

The meeting took place between days 25 and 26 September in Mexico City, aiming to share experiences of implementing PrEP as part of HIV combination prevention strategies among the ImPrEP project countries and the countries of the region Latin America with plans of PrEP implementation or expansion , in addition to strengthening the capacities of participants in the key aspects of the implementation of PrEP as part of HIV combination prevention strategies.

In addition to the ImPrEP project teams of Brazil, Mexico and Peru, the meeting had the  participation of representatives of Chile, Colombia, Cuba, El Salvador, Guatemala, Panama, and Dominican Republic.

Over two days, participants will have the opportunity to learn about the progress and experiences in implementing PrEP in the three countries that make up the ImPrEP Consortium, exchange experiences on best practices in the area of HIV combination prevention, and participate in workshops for planning PrEP programs in each country, adapted to their contexts.
